Night which is the only dark theme is a user saviour because it reduces the glare coming off the screen. Besides, it also saves some battery on your smart phone. Hikers can automatically turn on Night theme every night at 8 pm.
Hike 5.0 Magic Selfie

Magic Selfie feature employs Machine Learning based beautification techniques. Those techniques smoothen users’ skin and makes it look radiant from any angle. This new version is bundled with incredibly personal touches that are meant to delight its users.
Hike 5.0 Timeline
Hike 5.0 now has brand new colours and fonts. The five-year old company has also revamped moods and they can now be set as profile photos.
The old Timeline feature has made a return allowing users to post text, photos and videos on their timeline that will stay forever. Users can now expand the likes on posts in their timeline to see the number of people who have liked it. In addition to this, the new Hike allows multiple likes on a single post by a single user.
With Hike 5.0, users can create stories by posting pictures that disappears within 24 hours. The new version further allows users to convert text to stickers that are supported by all regional languages. The new Hike is an all in one scrap-book of your life with your close friends.
Hike 5.0 Wallet
In a bid to stay ahead of the curve from its competitors, the Hike Messenger has taken an ambitious leap by integrating mobile wallet with the messaging platform.
Ingenious Express market analysis found that mobile payments are a rational next step for messaging platforms as they have millions of users on their platform.
This integration of mobile wallet into Hike 5.0 comes ahead of rival WhatsApp’s entry into digital payment expected later this year. WhatsApp counts India among its largest market and it has about 20 crore users in the country.
The Hike wallet has three distinct aspects:
- Money Transfer
- Blue Packets
1. Money Transfer
The National Payments Corporation of India developed Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was developed by that enables all bank account holders to send and receive money through a single mobile application without the need to enter bank account information.
With UPI support enabled in Hike 5.0, Hike Wallet users can perform free and instant bank to bank transfers. This works even for those recipients who are not on Hike Messenger.
Further, Hike allows users without bank account to perform money transfers within the wallet itself. The company has YES Bank as its banking cohort.
2. Blue Packets
A Blue Packet is a beautifully crafted envelope that users can insert money into and send it to their close friends. This concept of a Blue Packet is very similar to Tencent’s WeChat electronic red packets, which represent the traditional practice of giving red packets filled with cash during Lunar New Year.
Hike 5.0 consists of 10 amazingly designed envelopes and users can also add a personalized message such as thank you, flying kiss, to it to celebrate any special occasions.
Users can send a Blue Packet to an individual or even a group of friends. If the sender wishes to send Blue Packets to a group of your friends, he can have a little fun by limiting the number of people in the group to receive the money. In the next step, the sender has two ways to split his money among the receivers. Among them, the sender can either choose the option to divide the amount evenly among the selected number of recipients or choose the Random option. It works on a first come first serve basis. It has a ‘Surprise’ option for the first opener of the packet. The Blue Packet expires within a time span of 24 hours.
Hike Messenger now backs prepaid recharges and postpaid bill payments. Ingenious Express analysis indicated that the company is trying to become a versatile platform wherein a user can do anything from shopping to mobile recharges to other bill payments from within the app. This eradicates the need of having separate apps for paying bills or doing transactions.
128 bit SSL Encryption
The another distinct feature touted by the company is 128-bit SSL encryption. This feature completely encodes the communication across the air and wire networks.
The tremendous update of Hike 5.0 is the reduction of the app size from over 40MB to around 25MB with all these performance improvements alongside.
This new Hike 5.0 attempts to simplify the way of interaction with people through changes in the content and mobile services.
